The mighty Samcro returns to action and will face three rivals in the WKD Hurdle. After an impressive season including a win in the Ballymore Novices Hurdle at the Cheltenham festival, owners Gigginstown have decided to aim towards the Champion Hurdle in March instead of embarking on a novice chase campaign. The main rival to the chestnut will be Sharjah, who ran out an impressive winner of the Galway Hurdle in August. The legions of Samcro fans will be hoping for a good start to the season.

Last season’s Pertemps Final winner Delta Work will make his chasing debut on Friday. This horse built his way up through the hurdling ranks last season through handicaps before finishing off with a narrow defeat to the smart Next Destination in the Punchestown Grade one three mile top novice contest. This horse looks set for a big season over fences and should be a live contender for the RSA Chase or JLT in March at the Cheltenham Festival.
