Original and Celestial Halo were confirmed today for the Arkle (19 runners confirmed) and Champion Hurdle (24 runners confirmed) respectively for Tuesday next week, so it’s all systems go. Original is as short as 14/1 now although 20/1 is still available in places. Celestial Halo is a best priced 10/1 although is a short as 7/1 with Bet365.
Paul Nicholls who will saddle Celestial Halo in the Champion Hurdle said today: “Celestial Halo is fine and he is all set to go. There might be a short favourite for the race, but at all these Cheltenham races they are all competitive and all out to win. Hopefully all the favourites won’t win. We have got a chance and we are very happy with him.”
In weather and going news it has been a dry day at Cheltenham today with some sunny periods after a cold frosty start. After yesterday’s rain Simon Claisse has confirmed there will be no more watering of the course, so there is no risk of false ground.
The going on each track is now as follows: Old (Tues/Wed) – good to soft; New (Thu/Fri) – good to soft, soft in places; Cross country (Tues) – soft, heavy in places.
