I really wanted American Trilogy to win this race purely because I wanted to write the headline “Glory Glory Hallelujah” (one for the Elvis fans!) but seeing as he jumped so violently left he was nearly having lunch in the Panoramic Restaurant; it’s Captain Chris that takes the headline to this review! It was a deserved victory for Captain Chris who had previously finished second to Ghizao twice and then to Medermit on his latest outing.
That duo are currently fighting out favouritism for the Arkle.T here is no doubt that Captain Chris is a horse of serious talent but in his previous races this season it has been his jumping that has let him down. Today his jumping was economical rather than spectacular but nonetheless much improved. The Hobbs team have him entered in both the Arkle and the Jewson and it is now the latter that they are leaning towards even though they have Wishfull Thinking who is of the same ownership as Captain Chris in mind for that race too. He is now as short as 11/2 for the Jewson from 8/1 and in from 12s to 8s for the Arkle.
