An upbeat bulletin from Jonjo O’Neill tonight – trainer of Exotic Dancer – who also suggests that AP McCoy will ride which is great news.
“I don’t know for sure but I imagine AP will be on Exotic Dancer,” the trainer revealed.
The Jackdaws Castle handler stated that everything has been going to plan in the build-up for Exotic Dancer, who was last seen when winning the Lexus Chase at Leopardstown over Christmas.
“His preparation has gone very well. He is in great order at home and we are looking foward to the race. The horse looks well and I hope that everything can keep going according to plan for the next two weeks. He has been in great order this year, although he needs to be to run well in a Gold Cup and just needs everything to drop right on the day. Hopefully he will run the same race as two years ago – a little better would be even better.” O’Neill said.
This is much more promising than last year when Exotic Dancer came into the Gold Cup without a victory during the season, a tough 3rd in the King George and an injury. Despite this he managed 5th against Denman so there is a great chance he will place and hopefully win.
Having been advised here at 16/1, Exotic Dancer is now a best priced 12/1 guaranteed with Hills.
