The good news today is that Robert ‘Choc’ Thornton gets the ride on my fancy Big Zeb in the Champion Chase. Following a great piece of work under Ruby Walsh at Leopardstown Racecourse this morning, Colm Murphy made the announcement.
Choc has a great record at the Festival with fifteen wins in all since his first victory in 1997. He did the business with a ‘one off booking’ on Captain Cee Bee for me last year so let’s hope he can repeat the trick this year.
Trainer Colm Murphy was positive about Big Zeb, “Mentally and physically he’s in very good shape.”
Big Zeb remains second favourite for the Queen Mother Champion Chase at a best price 12/1 with Paddy Power although he is as short as 8/1 with several bookmakers. If you haven’t already backed him then do so now as I can’t see him being a double figure price on the day.
