There have been two selections for JP Festival Cheltenham Festival 2010 – Celestial Halo and Forpadydeplasterer, and here’s a news update on both.
Celestial Halo, has two main targets, the Boylesports International and the Champion and there is a suggestion he might reappear in the WBX.COM Fighting Fifth at Newcastle on the 28 November.
Paul Nicholls his trainer said: “He was the one that got away at the Festival. His two big races are the Boylesports Hurdle before Christmas and the Champion Hurdle afterwards. He will have one run before each. The Champion Hurdle is very competitive as there are good horses about. He has gone close once though, and I can hope he can again.”
Celestial Halo can still be backed at 14/1 with Victor Chandler and Bet 365. If you haven’t yet availed yourself of this price, I suggest you do so.
Forpadydeplasterer is likely to run at Naas in a 2 mile chase a week today before a likely clash with Master Minded in the Tingle Creek at Sandown on 5 December.
His trainer Tom Cooper said: “He seems in great form. I would hope there is more to come as he has a real National Hunt pedigree and he should improve with age. He’s a big, old-fashioned steeple chaser and, at the minute, we’ll stick to two miles and take each race as it comes. All going well, we will just give him the one run and then have a go at the Tingle Creek at Sandown.”
Forpadydeplasterer is now a stand-out best price 18/1 with Sportingbet having been advised here at 20/1. 16/1 is available generally from a number of bookmakers.
Backing horses for Cheltenham Festival 2010 at this stage does mean tying up your money until March but to get the value it’s important to take the prices. Assuming that Celestial Halo and Forpadydeplasterer turn up fit and well on the day they are very likely to be at single figure prices.
